STEP 1: Our commitment to your safety is our first priority. As such, our Summer 2021 Meets have been CANCELLED. I do not see a path forward this year.

STEP 3: Before you can compete in any meet hosted by YSTFC, you must have a liability form on file for the year. Parents must sign for vaulters under 18 years old.

STEP 4: Registration is both day-of and online. Be sure to register online to guarantee your spot or day-of at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the meet.

Yolo Striders Track & Field Club

Yolo Striders Track & Field Club was put together with the goal of providing a safe environment to both practice and compete. Founded in the Fall of 2011, YSTFC has been serving area vaulters of all ages including high school, collegiate, open and masters age groups. Our current facilities include Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks, CA and Pioneer High School in Woodland, CA. YSTFC is a USATF Track and Field Club, (#464) belonging to the Pacific Association of USATF.
Since our founding we have hosted 44 meets, 2 clinics and witnessed over 260 unique individual vaulters continue their pursuit of the ever illusive PR.
We are proud to say that YSTFC meets have provided the forum for over 89 new PRs.

Meet Information

YSTFC has made the unfortunate decision to CANCEL all 5 planned all-comer pole vault meets in the summer of 2021. Obviously this is due to the global pandemic but also because of the logistics around facilities management and safety in the era of COVID. Therefore, we will not host any meets this summer. I have made the final determination and this update is being made 30 days before the first meet as promised. I am exercising my reserved right to cancel the series based on the current conditions. Continue to look to YSTFC.ORG for updates and details.

 

Assuming next year is a go, we will host a series of meets that conclude with a final championship meet. As before, we will award trophies to the winners in each of the following four divisions:

  • BOYS: High School Boys

  • GIRLS: High School Girls

  • MENS: Open/Collegiate/Masters

  • WOMENS: Open/Collegiate/Masters

Winners will be determined by adding the final height at each of the first four meets together with two times their final height at the championship meet**. The vaulters with the highest cumulative height within each division will be declared the winner of their division and the over all winner will be the Vaulter with the highest total height over all. Winners will receive trophies at the conclusion of the championship meet. We also award a PR medal at each meet to most improved vaulter. We’re pretty excited about this format and we hope you are too.

Registration

IMPORTANT CHANGE!!! The plans to pilot a pre-registration system will be implemented with next year's meet series. Registration will now be both day-of and online. As with our last Summer Championship Meet Series we will split our meets into two sessions. It is important to note that day-of registration will be closed at the start of the first session and that we will only hold one day-of registration for each meet.

Online registration will open 14 days prior to each meet and will close at 6 PM Pacific time the night before. We will be collecting name, email address, affiliation, USATF#, PR, and opening height. This information will allow us to streamline our day-off registration process and seed the meet sheet. By pre-registering you guarantee your spot. It also saves you money and allows more accomplished vaulters to show up later. If necessary, run throughs will be granted to vaulters who show up after their session has started and who come in after three consecutive passed heights. In accordance with High School Pole Vault Rules, run throughs will be held for 2 minutes per vaulter as required.

If you elect to register day-of, please make sure you show up before registration is closed. Day-of registration will be held once for both sessions and closes when the meet starts. Let me be clear; there will be no day-of registration for the second session. Day-of registration will start when the doors open and will close 10 minutes prior to the start of the first session. There will be no late entries!

The cost to compete is $25 per vaulter. If you pre-register the cost is $20. Meets are free to spectators, so come and support your favorite vaulter. For insurance purposes, a valid USATF membership number and a liability waiver are required. See below.

Meet Day

As we stated above, we will continue to split our meets into two sessions. Doors will open at 7:30 AM. Session one will start at 9:00 AM and session two will start no earlier than 11:00 AM. Start time of the second session is dependent on the number of vaulters in the first session and when that session ends. Don't worry, plenty of warm-up time will be allowed before the start of the second session and run throughs will be granted in accordance with High School pole vault rules.

 

The first session will have an opening height of around 6 feet. The second session will have an opening height of around 10 feet. As is our tradition, we increase opening heights by 1 inch per meet to afford opportunities for PRs. As an example, meet #1 may start at 6-1, meet#2 at 6-2 etc. We know you love PRs and we do too so we structure our opening heights to optimize the opportunity. 

 

The Series Championship Meet will be one session only and will start at 10:00 AM with doors opening at 8:00AM. Open height of the championship meet will be 7 feet.

USATF - Membership

Valid USATF#s are required to jump in our meets. Go to USATF.ORG to join USATF or renew your USATF membership. Don't remember your USATF Membership number or need to see if you are a valid member? Use the USATF Membership Lookup tool to find out. Remember, a valid USATF membership number is required to participate in any of our meets.

Forms - Liability Waiver

Liability waivers are required to jump in our meets. Download the liability waiver, fill it out, sign it and bring it to your first meet. Don’t worry, if you forget yours, we’ll have more. Vaulters under 18 must have a parent sign the form. Liability forms are kept on file and are only required once each year for the series. Under age vaulters must have a parent, legal guardian or coach present at the meet at all times when the vaulters is warming up or competing.

*Graduating seniors will be considered to be in the High School Division.

**Attendance at every meet is not required for awards, but is highly recommended.
